Rabeneck Castle is a former High Medieval nobleman’s castle, situated high above the Wiesent valley near Waischenfeld.
📜 History
Rabeneck was first mentioned in a document in 1257; the castle was probably built in the first half of the 13th century. It was destroyed during the Peasants’ War of 1525 and rebuilt by 1535. It later passed to the Counts of Schönborn, and since 1975 it has been meticulously maintained by its private owners. With over 800 years of history, it is one of the most beautiful castle settings in Franconian Switzerland.

The castle serves up hearty fare: Rabeneck is renowned for its suckling pig and barbecue skewers, served in the Knights’ Hall, and there’s also a beer cellar. And you can enjoy a cold beer right at the castle whilst taking in the magnificent views.
