🍺 Beer Franconia
Franconian Switzerland forms the heart of what is known as ‘Beer Franconia’, which is the counterpart to ‘Wine Franconia’. Beer Franconia encompasses regions with a high concentration of breweries and stretches from the eastern parts of Franconia to the Steigerwaldschranke near Haßfurt.
For a long time, Beer Franconia was regarded as the region with the highest density of breweries in the world; thanks to the craft beer trend, it is now ‘merely’ the region with the highest number of historic breweries. Even without Bayreuth and Bamberg, there are around 70 breweries in the area. These include many pub breweries, whose beer is only available there or in the immediate vicinity.
