🗺 Overview
Gößweinstein Castle towers high above the village of the same name in Franconian Switzerland. It is considered one of the region’s best-known castles and is a striking landmark offering impressive views over the Wiesent Valley.
📜 History
First mentioned in a document in 1076, it was the seat of various noble families. Partially destroyed in the 16th century, it was later rebuilt in the 19th century in a romanticised style.
