The most famous mountain in Franconian Switzerland is the Ehrenbürg, colloquially known as the ‘Walberla’. The Walberla, however, is only the northern peak of the mountain (513.9 m above sea level); the Ehrenbürg also includes the Rodenstein (531.9 m above sea level).
👀 Worth seeing
As well as picturesque rock formations, the mountain is home to the Walburgis Chapel. On the first Sunday in May, the Walberla Festival is held in her honour – a patron saint’s festival popular far beyond the region.
