You won’t find any high mountains here; the highest point is just over 600 metres. Yet they still make an impression: many stand out as landmark hills in the landscape, their steep slopes rising above the surrounding countryside. On the hilltops, sparse limestone dry grasslands grow, featuring pasque flowers, gentians and wild orchids. Almost all these areas are protected, so please stay on the paths and do not pick anything.

- Hohenmirsberger Platte – at 614 m, one of the highest points in the region; a wooden tower with 110 steps; panoramic views as far as the Fichtelgebirge.
- Adlerstein near Engelhardsberg – a freestanding rock with a steep iron staircase and views into the Wiesent Valley.
- Wichsenstein – a viewing rock with a summit cross and a 360° panorama.
- Kreuzberg near Gößweinstein – a picture-postcard view of the basilica and castle.
- Hummerstein – a rock above Gasseldorf, overlooking the Wiesent Valley.
- Neideck Castle Ruins – a landmark of the region, high above the Wiesent Valley near Streitberg.
- Leienfels Castle Ruins – Remains of a castle on a rock with sweeping views.
