Kathi-Bräu is situated on the edge of the forest near Heckenhof, a district of Aufseß. The brewery and inn have been part of the same establishment here since 1498, and the original building still stands today. At the weekend, the beer garden under the trees is packed with walkers, beer-tours (Kathibräu is part of the Brewery Trail), families and, above all, motorcyclists.
🍺 Beer
The beer is brewed on the premises, and all beers are served on tap:
- Dark lager, available all year round
- Kathi Light, the summer beer from early May
- Bock beer, available only in March and April
🍽️ Food
The menu features Franconian snacks and a few hot dishes, including shashlik on Fridays. There’s also home-baked cake, with the cheesecake being renowned far beyond the region. With 300 seats outside and 180 under cover, there’s plenty of space.
🏍️ Meeting place
During the season, Kathi-Bräu is a well-known motorbike meeting point; on fine weekends, the bikes are parked side by side in front of the inn. Nevertheless, the atmosphere is rustic, without any frills.
