🌳 Parks & Gardens
The region’s most beautiful gardens owe their existence to one woman: Margravine Wilhelmine of Bayreuth (1709–1758), Frederick the Great’s art-loving favourite sister. Without her passion for garden design, neither the Sanspareil Rock Garden nor the Hermitage would exist in their present form, and even the Fantaisie was created by her daughter in this tradition.
- Sanspareil Rock Garden – Wilhelmine’s wild rock garden near Wonsees
- Eremitage (Bayreuth) – an idyllic garden with grottoes, waterfalls and temples
- Fantaisie Palace Park – from Rococo to Historicism, with a museum of garden art
