The region’s most beautiful gardens owe their existence to one woman: Margravine Wilhelmine of Bayreuth (1709–1758), Frederick the Great’s art-loving favourite sister. Without her passion for garden design, neither the Sanspareil Rock Garden nor the Hermitage would exist in their present form, and even the Fantaisie was created by her daughter in this tradition.

All three parks are freely accessible and open all year round. Admission is only charged for those wishing to view the interior rooms or the Garden Art Museum.
